How to find the best afternoon tea in London

tb6.jpg

It seems that in recent years that almost every venue in London offers afternoon tea. This means that while we are spoilt for choice, it is totally overwhelming to know which afternoon tea to pick for the perfect afternoon tea experience. The added confusion of understanding the difference between cream tea, high tea and afternoon tea can also muddle matters. I’ve written previously about some tips to pick your dream venue but as I have seen yet another article written by a large national paper I decided to give my opinion. Earlier this month, the Independent covered the ‘best’ afternoon teas in London and quite frankly, I’m not sure if I can agree.

To help navigate the afternoon tea world, I have written a short quick-fire round about their recommendations. Please note this is my opinion and based on my experiences and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Here we go:

The Ampersand

The epitome of style over substance

Dean Street Townhouse

Cheap and cheerful!

Browns Hotel

Not been! Partially because of the hefty price tag. I’ve heard mixed reports but of course the proof is in the pudding.

The Savoy

Delightful!

Shangri- La at the Shard

Enjoyable experience and you can’t beat the view.

11 Cadogan Gardens

I’d pass

The Lanesborough

A little slice of heaven

Strand Palace Hotel

I’m sure this is a mistake to be on the list…

The Langham

You know what I haven’t actually been but I have heard very good things about it.

Claridge’s

An institution

The Ritz

Dire…

The Connaught

On the to-do list for 2020

The Landmark

An Instagrammer’s paradise

This is my opinion of my experiences and of course you can disagree with me, just the way I disagreed with the Independent. As you can imagine afternoon tea can be very subjective depending on who goes. If you want a recommendation for a special occasion I’m happy to help, just drop me an email here.
